The Hax House

This elaborate Second Empire style mansion was constructed in 1886 for meat packer, George Hax. The house retains It ornate mansard roof with iron cresting. It has a distinctive polygonal corner tower and stained-glass windows in the central front bay window. Note the rose-colored granite columns and patterned ceiling on the front porch. The front porch also retains its original mosaic tile door with the Hax name inset.
A large Queen Anne style carriage house with a circular tower room is located behind the mansion on Sylvanie Street. The interior of the home boasts parquet doors throughout, beautiful woodworks, original lighting and stained glass.
